Dr Schlesinger is the Chief of the Division of Rheumatology and Rheumatology fellowship program director at UMDNJ/Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick, NJ, where she is Professor of Medicine in the Department of Medicine. Dr. Schlesinger is a noted authority in the field of gout, having published papers regarding the diagnosis, treatment, and better understanding of the pathogenesis of gout. She is the author of over 190 scientific articles, abstracts, book chapters and reviews. Dr. Schlesinger is currently the President of the New Jersey Rheumatology Association. In addition she is the Co-chair, American College of Rheumatology - Crystal Study Group- as well as the Co-chair, American College of Rheumatology Abstract Reviewer Selection Process: Metabolic and Crystal Arthropathies. She has a special interest in evidence-based medicine and serves as a co-facilitator of the Acute Gout Review Group for Cochrane International Collaboration as well as a member of the OMERACT Gout Special Interest Organizing Group.

Anthony Jones is Professor of Neuro-rheumatology at Manchester University and leads the Human Pain Research Group. Whilst at the Hammersmith Hospital he pioneered the development of techniques to image neurochemical and metabolic brain responses to pain using Positron Emission Tomography. Over the last twenty years he has used a number of functional brain imaging techniques to understand the normal and abnormal mechanisms of pain perception. There is now the exciting prospect of using some of the insights gained in these studies to develop new approaches to pharmacological and cognitive interventions for chronic pain. He also leads the International Association for the Study of Pain Musculoskeletal Pain Taskforce, and has led the development of National and International Guidelines on the Integrated Management of Musculoskeletal Pain (jointly sponsored by the BSR and the IASP).

His main current goals are to use the current understanding of pain perception to encourage more rational use of current therapies and to develop new therapies.

Galina S. Bogatkevich has received her M.D. in 1991 and Ph.D in 1994 at the Medical University in Minsk, Belarus and completed postdoctoral training from Essen University, Germany and Medical University of South Carolina, USA. She is Assistant Professor in the Division of Rheumatology & Immunology, Medical University of South Carolina, USA. She has published more than 20 papers in peer-reviewed journals and serving as an editor and editorial board member of several reputed journals. Dr. Bogatkevich’s research interests focus on understanding the cellular and molecular mechanisms of interstitial lung disease in scleroderma patients.

Dr. Bogatkevich’s research interests focus on understanding the cellular and molecular mechanisms of pulmonary fibrosis in scleroderma patients. Studying thrombin and thrombin-induced signaling molecules in scleroderma lung disease. Defining mechanisms by which thrombin regulates C/EBP homologous protein (CHOP) in lung fibroblasts and alveolar epithelial cells and to determine the role of CHOP in pulmonary fibrosis. Examining the role of IQ motif containing GTPase activating protein (IQGAP1) in scleroderma pulmonary fibrosis. Understanding the role of genome in SSc-ILD.

Dr. Darko Bosnakovski received his PhD from Hokkaido University, Japan. He completed his Postdoctoral training at Southwestern Medical Centre in USA. From 2005 to 2008 he worked as a Research Associate in Southwestern Medical Center & University of Minnesota, USA. Previously he worked as an Assistant Professor of Veterinary medicine in St. Kliment Ohridski University. Presently he is an Assistant Professor of Medical Sciences at Goce Delcev University.

Dr Sunday RA AKINBO is presently the Professor and Head/Chairman, Department of Physiotherapy, College of Medicine, University of Lagos (CMUL), and also the Head and Consultant Physiotherapist, Department of Physiotherapy, Lagos University Teaching Hospital Lagos (LUTH) Lagos Nigeria. He has supervised into completion 5 PhD, 20 MSc theses and 145 BSc research projects. He has published well over 65 research studies in peered reviewed journals wish has contributed to knowledge in his area of professional specialization (Physiotherapy in Orthopeadics and Sports). He has attended well over 60 conferences locally and internationally, and has presented paper as a guest speaker in 50 conferences/workshop and seminars. He has received and completed 4 research grants to completion. He has 20 years of universities teaching and research experiences. He has won 7 special professional and community merit awards. He was formally the editor in chief and chairman editorial board and editor, Nigerian J Medical Rehabilitation, and Nigerian Quarterly J Hospital Medicine respectively. He has served and is still serving his country/continent and profession in several areas as chairman of several accreditation panels to Universities, teaching hospitals and federal medical centers in Nigeria/Africa. He is a member of several professional associations.

Charles J. Malemud received the Ph.D. from George Washington University in 1973 and completed postdoctoral studies at the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 1977. Since 1977, Dr. Malemud has been a member of the faculty at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine where he is presently Professor of Medicine & Anatomy in the Division of Rheumatic Diseases and Senior Investigator in the Arthritis Research Laboratory. He has published more than 190 papers and reviews primarily in the field of chondrocyte biology. Professor Malemud is on the editorial board of several rheumatology, immunology and musculoskeletal journals and is Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Clinical and Cellular Immunology.
