Nikolaos Christodoulou is Chairman of Orthopedic Surgical Department in Iatriko Psychikou Clinic - Athens Medical Group (Greece). He has studied medicine in the University of Athens having succeeded the Greek National Scholarship IKY. He had courses in internal medicine by “Exchange Program of Students” in Frankfurt University in Germany, the experience of a biostatistics annual program of the University of Athens and a stage in the post of Assisted Researcher in Research Cancer Center “G. Papanikolaou” in Athens. He was specialised in orthopedic surgery in Asclepeion Orthopedic Hospital of Hellenic Red Cross. He has been Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon in Asklepeion Orthopedic Hospital at Athens in1983-1985 and received his PhD from the University of Athens in 1985 concerning the influence of intrinsic factors in the anatomical pattern and location of fractures of the proximal femur. He has been also Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon-Orthopedic Department of Korinthos Hospital, Greece (1985-1989), Chief Clinical Director, Orthopedic Department of Karpenissi Hospital, Greece (1989-2009), Chief Clinical Director, Orthopedic Department of “White Cross” Hospital, Athens, Greece (2009-2011) and from 2011 Chairman Clinical Director of Orthopedic Department of Iatriko Psychikou Clinic - Athens Medical Group. He has published many clinical and research works accompanied by extensive citation concerning mainly Hip Fractures, Hip arthroplasties, High Hip Center technique in Congenital Hip Dislocation cases, Anterolateral Knee instability, Knee osteotomies, Hip, Knee and Foot External fixation, New MIS hip approaches and the ALMIS personal technique using a different surgical table and legs position during femoral exposure.

Dr. Burkhard F. Leeb was born in Vienna on August 23rd, 1956. He received his specialization in rheumatology in 1994. He was appointed director of the newly established center for rheumatology, Lower Austria, at Stockerau Hospital in 1999. In collaboration with his co-workers he was able to establish this institution in Austrian rheumatology within a relative short time period. Aside this occupation Dr. Leeb had the honor to serve as president of the Austrian society for rheumatology and rehabilitation between 2008 and 2010, as well as a member and also as co-convenor of several EULAR task-forces, amongst them the ones for osteoarthritis and gout. Up to date Dr. Leeb has published more than 150 articles in peer reviewed journals, and in books, amongst them meta-analyses on chondroitin sulfate, and diacerein, EULAR response criteria for polymyalgia rheumatica, and a respective disease activity score.

His main scientific interests are arthritides, polymyalgia rheumatica, as well as osteoarthritis and above all the problems along with disease activity assessment.

Dr. Jan Willem Cohen Tervaert is basically from The Netherlands. He is a graduate of the Medical School, Groningen, the Netherlands. In 1993, he became Medical specialist with clinics in different locations; specialization: disorders such as systemic auto-immune diseases, vasculitis, foreign body reactions, immune defiencies and unsolved clinical problems. He was appointed as Head of the Immunology Laboratory as well as Medical specialist, Department of Internal Medicine, Reumatology and Gastro-enterology in University Hospital Maastricht, Maastricht in 2000. In 2012, he was appointed as Research Director, Franciscus Gasthuis & Vlietland, Rotterdam. Previously he was working as Professor of Internal Medicine and Immunology, Maastricht University, Maastricht, the Netherlands. Currently he is serving as Professor in University of Alberta, and Director, division of Rheumatology, UA, Edmonton, Canada.

His main scientific interests are Internal Medicine and Immunology.

Piotr Gluszko is Professor of Medicine and Head of the Department of Rheumatology at the National Institute of Geriatrics, Rheumatology and Rehabilitation, Warsaw, Poland. He obtained his medical degree from the Faculty of Medicine, Copernicus Medical Academy, Cracow, Poland in 1975. He received his training in internal medicine at the Jagiellonian University Hospital in Cracow. In 1983-84 and 1990/91 he got training appointment as a research associate at the University of Pennsylvania Medical School, Philadelphia, USA. In 1991 he obtained specialisation in clinical rheumatology in Warsaw at the Institute of Rheumatology. In years 1991- 2010 he was appointed Associate Professor and Head of the Rheumatology Unit at the Jagiellonian University, Medical College in Cracow. Professor Gluszko attained his PhD at Jagiellonian University in 1999. He is involved in basic and clinical research on the inflammatory rheumatic diseases, blood vessel and coagulation disorders, and secondary osteoporosis. Since 1976 Piotr Gluszko has been continuously engaged in patient care and teaching of internal medicine, rheumatic and bone diseases. Professor Gluszko has published over 150 articles and book chapters in the field of internal medicine, rheumatology and osteoporosis.

Demosthenes Bouros is a graduate of the Medical School of the Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki and a PhD of the University of Athens. He was a research fellow at the Harvard University in Boston, Visiting Assistant Professor at the Boston University, senior Research Associate at the Royal Brompton Hospital and ERS visiting professor of the Medical University of Vienna. He is currently Professor of Pneumonology at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece. He has published >400 articles in national and international peer-review journals, has >15.000 citations, H index 60 (Google Scholar), he wrote >40 chapters in books, is member of the Editorial Board of many medical journals. He was a member of the committee for the development guidelines for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and the new classification of idiopathic interstitial pneumonias. He has been elected as foundation member of the Fellows of the European Respiratory Society (FERS).

His main research interests include the pathogenetic mechanisms and treatment of interstitial lung diseases and sarcoidosis and the role of stem cells in chronic lung diseases.

Dr. Francesco Ria has done his MD and PhD in Oncology from Catholic University Rome in 1990. He was also a Visiting Scientist in Roche Milano Ricerche – L. Adorini H.S. Raffaele – Milano and La Jolla Institue for Allergy and Immunology – E.E. Sercarz San Diego (CA) USA, from 1993 - 2001. His previous position was a Researcher in Catholic University – Rome from 1994 2004. At present he is working as Associate Professor Immunopathology - School of Medicine in Università Cattolica del S. Cuore, L.go F. Vito, 1 Roma.

Dr. Concepción Marañón got her PhD in Biochemistry in 1998 at the University of Granada (Spain) through the study of the biology and immunogenicity of the protozoan parasite Trypanosoma cruzi. Afterwards she moved to Institut Cochin in Paris working on the role of different immune populations in the physiopathology of HIV infection and the mechanisms of immune protection against the virus. From 2011 she switched to the autoimmunity field, and currently she focus in the functional validation of genes involved in susceptibility to systemic autoimmune diseases, as well as the discovery of relevant biomarkers for their precision diagnosis.

Agnieszka Paradowska-Gorycka graduated from the Agricultural University of Poznan, Poland. She completed a degree in Biotechnology with specialization in molecular diagnostics. She started working in the Department of Molecular Biology, National Institute of Geriatrics, Rheumatology and Rehabilitation, Warsaw, Poland. From 2016 she is the Head of the Department of Molecular Biology, National Institute of Geriatrics, Rheumatology and Rehabilitation, Warsaw, Poland. She participated in numerous scientific conferences as well as the author of over 40 scientific papers.
